Department of Psychosomatics
Universidad Maharishi de Latinoamérica y el Caribe - UMLAC
Welcome to the Department of Psychosomatics at Maharishi University for Latin America and the Caribbean (UMLAC).
We are thrilled to present you with an unique opportunity to explore the deep connections between mind and body, through the integration of Vedic Psychology, Vedic Psychiatry and Maharishi Ayurveda's Integrated approach to Psychosomatics.
Our Department develops and offers courses and projects that wisely integrate the ancient Vedic and Maharishi Ayurveda traditions with the most advanced visions of Neuroscience in the context of the mind-body connection.
Maharishi Ayurveda is a "Consciousness-Based Medicine", through a holistic approach based on Consciousness, is aimed at understanding and promoting personal evolution, as well as the development of the full creative potential of Consciousness and consequently spiritual and psychophysical well-being, not only for individuals, but also for the communities in which we live.
Our courses offer a wide range of teaching, covering both the theoretical and practical aspects of psychosomatics. Students will have the opportunity to explore the foundations of Vedic Psychology, which includes deep knowledge of the mind, its processes and behavioral patterns. Vedic psychiatry, on the other hand, focuses on applying these principles to understand and treat mental disorders in a holistic way, especially conditions of distress, mild states of anxiety and mild states of depression and in an advanced stage also severe diseases.
Our educational offer also includes specialized courses in Psychosomatics, which explore the complex interactions between mind and body and the role that emotions, thoughts and the environment play in health and disease. We will study how Transcendental Meditation and other Maharishi Vedic methodologies can positively influence psychosomatic health and expand the full creative potential of individuals and communities.
Furthermore, the Department of Psychosomatics actively promotes research and collaborations with other institutes and professionals in the field. We support projects that explore the effectiveness of the Vedic approach to health and well-being.
Our goal is to train highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners who are able to wisely integrate the knowledge of Maharishi Ayurveda with contemporary practices. We are confident that our Psychosomatics education offering will provide a unique and empathetic learning experience that will help improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
We are pleased to welcome you on the journey towards a profound understanding of the unity between Consciousness, mind, body, behavior and environment and explore the potential of Maharishi Ayurveda, Vedic Psychology, Vedic Psychiatry and Psychosomatics at the Department of Psychosomatics of UMLAC, the Maharishi University for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The First Section, "Mind and Spirituality," delves into the principles of the Vedic knowledge to explore the structure and function of the mind. This serves as a foundation for the Second Section, "Maharishi Ayurveda Approach to Psychosomatics," which provides practical solutions for those struggling with psychosomatic illness, anxiety, and mild depression.
The course emphasizes the importance of consciousness and the understanding of the mind-body connection, and how imbalances in the mind can manifest as physical symptoms. It offers simple and natural techniques to balance the mind, promoting overall health and well-being. These techniques include Ayurvedic treatments, herbal remedies, meditation, and lifestyle changes.
What sets this course apart is its integration of ancient Vedic wisdom with modern scientific research. By combining the knowledge of Ayurveda with modern disciplines like physics, neurophysiology, molecular biology, and psychology, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the mind and its impact on health. This unique approach provides a holistic perspective on wellness, addressing not just the physical symptoms but also the underlying psychological and spiritual factors.
In a world where mental health issues are becoming increasingly prevalent, the Maharishi Ayurveda Integrated Approach to Psychosomatics offers timely and effective solutions for individuals looking to improve their overall well-being.
